Responsibility
This is the lead finance position for the Dubai O&G business. Reporting to the General Manager, this role will be responsible for all aspects of financial control over the Dubai business, including consolidation of our Iraq & Oman businesses.
Objectives & Measurement:
- Promote a ‘business partnering’ culture within Dubai, with finance embedded as a key part of the local management team.
- Monitor the operating financial control mechanisms in the business and strengthen them where required.
- Reconciliation and review of the balance sheet, highlighting any potential issues while continually improving processes and controls.
- o Ensure robust work in progress reviews are performed on a quarterly basis, highlighting issues on a timely basis.
- o Chair management meetings to address overdue debts
- Strong working capital management, ensuring that budget and forecast targets are exceeded.
- Follow the principles of revenue recognition as laid down by Weir policies. Ensure correct and timely issuing of invoices for all activities, in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Ensure that all payments are in accordance with budgets, agreements and contracts etc. and that invoices are properly checked and approved before payment. Ensure timely payments of suppliers, contractors and related Weir companies.
- Compile monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports as required by management, comprising statistical analysis, budget deviations and comments to same, including the consolidation of the Iraq and Oman business results.
- In close co-ordination with the General Manager, administer the preparation and submission of budgets and forecasts in the approved format.
- Keep management informed of significant departures from operating budgets, either actual or estimated. Make recommendations to management regarding potential improvements in the financial result.
- Liaise directly with both internal and external auditors.
- Liaise closely in all financial matters with the designated focal point in Weir Oil & Gas Division and the Services Finance Director.
Measurements: Successful achievement of key financial metrics. Finance department perceived as ‘best in class’ and a full business partner to other functional departments. Continue to foster a ‘no surprises’ culture. Clean internal and external audit reports.
Education and Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree with one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent, with minimum two / three years post qualification experience.
Product Knowledge: Prior experience in an O&G services business preferable but not mandatory.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills: Standard Microsoft Office package with particular focus on excel. Previous experience with ERP accounting packages.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Physical Demands: Desk based job with little manual handling required.
