Duties:
The successful candidate will report to the Senior Process Plant Maintenance Superintendent and to take responsibility in the asset
management, maintenance and continuous improvement of all CGML Process Plant equipment and assets. This position is responsible for managing the CGML Process Plant Maintenance Team and Resources to ensure promoting continuous improvement with the mine site. He/she must have the ability to work unsupervised and also oversees all mechanical maintenance and modification works at the Process Plant as well as supervising activities of contractors and other 3rd parties affiliated to the section.

Chirano is located in southwestern Ghana, approximately 100 kilometres southwest of Kumasi, Ghana’s second largest city. The mine is within the Bibiani gold belt and consists of 11 deposits. Open pit and underground ore are processed at the Chirano plant. The capacity of the mill is approximately 3.5 million tonnes per annum. Processing involves crushing, ball mill grinding, leaching, and CIL.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively promote Safety culture and Hazard awareness and ensure relevant Safety, Mining and other statutory Codes and Regulations remain in full compliance.
- Ensure all Process Plant Maintenance workers on site meet company and governmental requirements with respect to training, certification and equipment operation.
- Assist in reviewing work plans, contribute to work estimates and review maintenance efforts to ensure they are effective, efficient and ensure safe operation of Process Plant equipment.
- Develop and implement mechanical maintenance programs and standards in order to ensure the safe functioning of equipment and manage all Process Plant maintenance, coordinate planning, installations and rebuilds.
- Develop Condition Based Monitoring programs (Infrared Thermography, Ultrasound inspections etc. )
- Liaise with Mechanical Maintenance team on process control instrumentation and PLC systems when required.
- Manage mechanical engineering projects to ensure delivery of project within set budget and timeframes and manage third party contractual responsibilities in relation to mechanical engineering projects.
- Ensure Process Plant mechanical infrastructure is maintained to a standard to enable annual plan targets to be met, and the long term integrity of assets are established through life of mine planning.
- Create AFE for required projects and record them in Kinross AFE system for processing and close I finalize AFEs in the system.
- Other duties as reasonably assigned
QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent from a recognised institution.
- Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in process equipment- particularly gyratory and cone crushers, screens, conveyors and gold recovery plants. Experience is also required in plant maintenance including infrastructure and utilities.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Duty of Care standards, occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations, Mining Inspection Act & Regulations.
- Demonstrable experience within implementation of maintenance procedures.
- Detailed knowledge of costing, pricing, and estimating.
- Good oral and written communication skills in English
- Exceptional organizational, leadership, management and organisational skills
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with good and defensive driving skills
- Must be a computer literate- MS Office Suite.
