Job Title: Head of Recoveries
Location : Ghana
Job Purpose:
The job holder will work in the Recoveries Department to ensure that all classified and charged off debts are recovered for the Bank.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, supervise and organise recovery of the Bank’s classified and charged-off accounts
- Liaise with the Legal and other business units for the preparation of legal briefs and timely referrals of cases to external solicitors
- Where recovery of the Bank’s debt is outsourced for collection, monitor the performance of external solicitors on monthly basis.
- Liaise with staff of other business units in the preparation of witness to evidence for the bank by the external solicitors and ensure attendance in court
- In the event that the Bank secures judgement, supervise the execution process by liaising with the external solicitors, court registrar, bailiffs and auctioneers for judicial sale of attached property.
- Endorse processing of solicitors bills for payment on filing for court processes and claims for work done
- Advise management on mortgage release and ensure proper documentation process where property is assigned to the Bank in lieu of debt payment.
- Mentor, coach and manage the performance of staff in the recoveries department and provide development opportunities to them
- Prepare and submit periodic reports on the debt recoveries to Management and the Board of Directors
Qualification
Must have a second Degree or relevant professional qualification, qualification in Law is an added advantage
Must have minimum of 10 years relevant extensive hands-on experience, 5 years of which is in debt collection and recoveries management
Good knowledge of debt restructuring, court proceedings, Bank of Ghana Regulations and Banking Law.
